Just found out that the other Japanese hostage--Kenji Goto--was killed. Very sad day. What a terrible world we live in...後藤さんが殺されてしまったこと、さっき聞いちゃった。悲しい一日です。どんな世界なの？

FUN-ky carrots

These are the carrots I am putting in my juices every day. Organic and multi-coloured! How fun are these?

And when you cut into the purple ones, they are purple and yellow inside?!

Apparently carrots were originally purple and later white and then orange ones develop. The orange is a mutation of the original carrot--how interesting, right?

Last night's movie: The Intouchables

One of the best movies I have seen in a long time...absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend it!

Where in the world is Pender Island? ペンダー島ってどこ？

I've been adding to the work travel map again. On Sunday, I took the ferry from Tsawwassen down to Pender Island (via Mayne). 出張の地図をまた改新した。日曜日にフェリーに乗って、ペンダー島へ。

I am heading home today but I'm pretty lucky--all the great places I get to go...今日帰るけどいろいろ行けて超ラッキー！

Working on Pender Island ペンダー島で出張

I arrived on Pender Island late last night, and drove to the Hummingbird Hollow Bed and Breakfast. Mine is the Cedar Suite...夕べ、ペンダー島に到着。それで朝食付きの宿泊にチェックイン。私の部屋。。。

Lots of lovely wood...木材がきれい。。。

 And lovely windows!　窓もいっぱい。

 This is the sunroom by night...サンルームというのもあって。。。

...and the view by day!　朝の景色ってすごい！

It is a lovely room...　部屋はとてもいい！

Complete with a tea/coffee station in the lobby...ロビーに紅茶、コーヒ・ステーションがある。

And breakfast! Zucchini and lime marmalade on the left--I may never leave...朝食はおいしい手作りのズッキーニ・マーマレードがあった！

Zucchini and potato latkes...yum!　ズッキーニとポテートーケーキもあって。。。カロリーいいね！

I was so busy enjoying brekkie, I didn't notice the company...食べる途中、何かに気づいた。。。

The lounge with a fireplace this morning (it was hard to leave...)　ラウンジは暖炉があって、すごく気持ちいい！

This is where I held my meeting--the Pender Island Community Hall--a stunning piece of architecture  built on land donated by community members, with labour and materials donated by community members!　会場です。ペンダー島にすんでいる人が集まって作ったそうです。ピープル・パワーってすごくない？！

I made use of the post office in town...郵便局に行った。。。

 Even Scruffy is enjoying himself...友達もいつでもいる。。。

Lobster dinner on Saturday night...

Again, too tired to do this justice--but on Saturday night L did a lobster boil up. There were clams, oysters, and raviolis in there as well!

 NJ made a corn casserole--I ate most of it!

 I set the table and provided alcohol, and did dessert--definitely the easy jobs!

How gorgeous is this meal... 

 It wasn't on my plate long....

Waffle Sando on Friday!

I am too tired to write this properly--more tomorrow. On Friday night we went out for WAFFLE SANDWICHES WITH JAPANESE FILLINGS! Absolute heaven--thanks for the tip, mom!

 Oh, and there were nori chips--lovely!

 L had Korean bulgogi beef on her waffle sando!

 Mine was avocado tempura, tomato, and cilantro! Divine!

Homemade pizza!

L made pizza dough AND pizza sauce last weekend--absolute heaven. The pizzas were SOOO good...

Canadian cheese curds chopped up for a bit of local flair...

Voila!

So good, I had to have a breakfast pizza the next morning!

Last day in Fraser Lake フレイザー湖で最後の日

As I rush through my last day in Fraser Lake, I thought I would send a few snaps from the last few days. This is the FABULOUS coffee shop in Vanderhoof where I spent a few hours yesterday.　今日はフレイザー湖に最後の日です。この間の写真を様々アップしようと思う。昨日の喫茶店です。ヴァンダフーフ町二ある。ものすごくいい所です。

 And yes, I had to get snow off my car!　運転する前に雪の片付けが必要だった。

This is the no-fruit, no-vegetable breakfast from the day before. Um....definitely need to eat more vegetables when I am on the road.　この間の朝食。果物や野菜はメニューに全くなくてちょっと心配！

 This is my hotel room door--it has an interesting extra lock mechanism.　ホテル部屋のドアは面白い工夫があって、ドアが簡単にもっと安全になる。

 Voila--extra secure way to keep the door closed!　簡単なアイディアじゃない？

 And this will be my view at 5:30pm when my plane leaves Prince George airport...５時半頃の景色だと思う。その頃は飛行機で帰ろうとしている！

 Cheers to the area...Lower Mainland here I come! フレイザー湖、じゃね！
