Drinking and Domo...ドーモくん、飲んでいる？

Fun night last night, with Domo and some South African port...more details to come...夕べはドウモくんとたくさん楽しめた！詳細はまた書く。。。
 
We were hanging out at home...Domo and the pumpkin...ドーモ君とカボチャのジャックはうちにいた。 

 This is the fancy design (harder than it looks). ドーモくんデザインは意外と難しかった！

 最初の手順は目と口。 First I did the eyes and step one of the mouth.

次のステップは歯の形を考える。Then I had to think about the teeth.

 

Finally, I cut the teeth out...and voila, a little pumpkin Domo! 歯の形はちょっと怖いけどがんばった！

 

The final products...ハローウィーンの飾りは出来上がり。

Halloween fun 2014

Last night was spent creating a pumpkin for Halloween--and it was TONNES of fun! These are the two pumpkins I had...

 And the design I chose for one...

My christening dress 洗礼式のドレス

I took out my christening dress on the weekend--how gorgeous (and tiny) is this outfit?
洗礼式って英語でクリスニーング。お母さんが最近洗礼式（せんれいしき）のドレスをくれた。小さくて信じられない。実は二枚です。

This is the top part...上はきれいです。

It is open at the back (mom!!) 後ろはちょっと開いている。
 
Thank goodness there was another part to the dress--underneath--so I was appropriately covered up! だから下の部分もある。クリスト教の友達が女の子生んだらあげようかな。。。

それから、2006年の結婚ドレスも出した。似ていない？And then I pulled out my wedding dress from 2006...Hmmm...anyone else spotting a trend?

Fabulous Fall Fondue 秋の素晴らしいフォンデュ

On Sunday night we had a delightful meal. It started out with Caesar salad, including home-made salad dressing (including fried garlic pieces and an anchovy), home-made croutons, and a home-made parmesan cheese bite--super delicious!

We moved onto the main course--cheese fondue...

All sorts of lovely fresh vegetables were available for dipping in the cheese...

 For dessert we mixed all of this up...

And prepared fruit...(with home-made rice krispy treats)...
And dipped it all in here....deeeelicious!

We saw another fabulous movie on the weekend...an absolute MUST if you haven't seen it yet...The Lunchbox...これも最近見た！最近はすばらしい映画ばっかり楽しんでいる！秋なのにたっぷり楽しんでいる！これは「めぐり逢わせお弁当」です。見なきゃ！

Roasted chestnuts 焼き栗

夕べ、友達に生栗をもらった。そのままはやっぱり食べないので焼きました。皮をとるのはとても面倒くさいけど美味しいです。 We received some chestnuts from a friend's yard yesterday so we decided to roast them in the oven. They are a bit of a pain to prepare...

可愛いよね！Especially removing the shells...but it was worth it...little bites of yumminess!

Delightful dinner...

We had a lovely dinner last night...asparagus and fish, and wine, of course...and a delightful salad...

Making muffins

This is a touch on the delayed side--some photos from when L (with a little help from a friend) made about 130 muffins. Some were banana, some were banana-nut, and the rest were blueberry. Lotsa muffin fun!

Halloween's coming...

This is NOT my favourite time of year. I like the chocolates but the scary stuff is not my cup of tea. So imagine my thrill when I went to a Board Meeting yesterday at our co-op and found THIS on the ceiling...

Home-made pesto

Yes, the home-made food frenzy is back! I put a bunch of basil in the mixer...

Added some mint...

Toasted some walnuts...

Mixed in salt, olive oil, garlic, lemon...

Mixed it all up and what did I have?

Home-made pesto!

  I thought it was delightful!

  Good on pasta...

Really good on pasta!

Games Night Saturday!

We did Games Night again on Saturday. Actually, it was more about wonderful food and wine and conversation and less about the games. Fun fun fun...

Thirsty Thursday

Thursday last week was Thirsty Thursday ;-) The third Thursday of every  month, a few colleagues and ex-colleagues go out for drinks, snacks, and to catch up. This month we met at Olympic Village, courtesy of a lovely co-worker who lives there. I biked from work (9km)...

 Such a great location...

 And because I was too lazy to bike 20km home, I took my bike on the SkyTrain! Go Peugeot!
