今日のプロジェクト・Today's project

Today we bought some patio furniture from a neighbour who is moving out soon. The stuff is not new, but with a bit of wood treatment, it should come up beautifully! 今日、そろそろ引っ越しする隣人のベランダー家具を安く買いました。新しくないけどまだまだ大丈夫です。今日のプロジェクトは木材処理。

Here goes nothing...table and two chairs!! テーブルと椅子2台、頑張ります！

Yummy！おいしい！

I had breakfast in Nelson this morning at The Old World Bakery. It was pretty good, especially the fruit. 今日の朝食はネルソンのいいぱんやさんで。果物などがちょう美味しかった！

And this is lunch at the Castlegar airport--pretty fun actually...I love being a 'grown up'! これは今食べている昼食です。大人であって良かった！

The Defense of Marriage Act is struck down. Now we wait to see what this means for immigration and other federal laws in the U.S. A very happy day!

バーナビー市生まれ・Born in Burnaby...

Today, I found out something kind of interesting. Michael Bublé was born in Burnaby. 今日、割と面白いこと知るようになった。マイケル・ブーブレはバーナビー生まれです。

I am not super interested in Michael Bublé but it got me thinking about who else might be from Burnaby. 彼は私にとってあまり面白くないけど他のバーナビー生まれの人を調べた。

Canadian soccer team captain Christine Sinclair is from Burnaby. I am not a huge fan because she is a bit of a bad sport...サッカーのカナダ代表チームの主将、クリスチーン・シンクレアーもバーナビー生まれ。かのじょはちょっと負けてかっかする人なのであまり 好きじゃない。

Finally I found a good candidate...Carrie Anne Moss! She played Trinity in the Matrix movies--finally, someone fabulous that was born in Burnaby!! いいのはキャリー＝アン・モスさんです。大好きな「マトリックス」の映画でトリニティ役を美しく描かれた。彼女もバーナビー生まれ。いいね。。。

Waiting for the plane・飛行機待ち

I am waiting for my flight to Castlegar...it is delayed about 30minutes but hopefully I am still going to make it out today. I am looking forward to seeing LK...haven't seen her since last year...Also, I hope the work goes well!!

カスルガー行きの飛行機を待っている。今、30分ぐらい遅れている。もうそろそろ搭乗できるだって。埼玉大学時代の友達を会う予定です。彼女のところに泊まる予定なので超楽しみ。仕事もするけどまずは友達！優先順番間違っているかな？

94歳のマンデラさんの回復を祈ります。

Mandela is apparently in critical condition. Sending him thoughts and prayers, peace and comfort.

この間のモール ・ Chinese mall...

The other day I was at this Chinese mall. It was full of great stores but the thing that confused me was the 'pool'. この間、このショッピング・センターを訪ねた。中国のお店がいっぱいあってちょっとカルチャ・ショック。面白いのはこのプールです。あれ？プールなの？

No climbing the pool! Really....それでこれもちょっと笑った。プールを登らないでって。あれ？「プールで泳がない」の看板があったらわかるけど。。。まあいいか。。。

Happy Aboriginal Day! アボリジニの日です！このイベントへ行こうと予定されていたけど仕事のせいでいけなかった。。。

And Happy First Day of Summer! (what?) 今日はカナダで夏の最初の日。あれ？6月21日は夏至（げし）だけど夏はもう始まったはずです！

バランス・ボール Balance ball

I read a great article today on the Asahi Shimbun website. There is a medication sales company in Kyoto where all the employees sit on balance balls instead of office chairs. How cool is that? 今日、面白い記事を読んだ。京都市山科区の中野製薬の職員がバランスボールを椅子にしています。すごいなーーー。

I am finally finished the third book in the Game of Thrones series....now I have to open some boxes to find where I packed the next book!

やっと、ゲーム・オブ・スローンズ(七王国の玉座)の3話目を読み終えた！四話目は持っているけどどの箱にはいっているかが問題。。。

I finally sorted out the pantry on Saturday...the place is coming together slowly but surely...土曜日に食料庫をやっと片付けた！少しずつこの新しいアパートが住みやすくなって来ている！

ミッション市へ出張・Working in Mission

Today I was in Mission for work. Mission is about an hour's drive east of Burnaby. I was in meetings all day so I am exhausted！Good night! 今日はミッション市へ出張。バーナビー市から一時間東へ運転する。一日中の会議なのでこんやはもうクタクタ！お休み！

水曜日だけど週末の始まりかな？

ドーナツ！Doughnuts

Yeah yeah...some fun doughnuts found recently...check out this flavour!! Key Lime Cake! この間見つけたドーナツだ。このあじははじめて見た。キーライム・パイ味だから味見する勇気はない。

And of course, Krispy Kreme was making fresh doughnuts...damn them! クリスピー・クリームが焼きたてのドーナツもあった。残念ながら食べなきゃいけなかった！

Eating outside

This was our weekend fun--eating outside! We had salad and fish on the front balcony (with a glass of vino, of course) この間の週末の楽しいことは外で食べること。外といえばレストランじゃなくてバルコニーだ！ サラダ、魚、ワインで最高！

And I was in charge of dessert...first you slice open the bananas... デザート担当の私はバナナを使って作った。

Then you stuff them with chocolate and marshmallows... 生バナナを切ってチョコやマシュマロを入れる。

Then you put them on the BBQ....それでバーベキューで焼く。

Leave them on until the skins get blackened...皮が黒くなるまで

Break out the ice-cream and Baileys...アイスとベイリーズを用意して

Add nuts and Baileys...and enjoy! ナツを加えて出来上がり！

Tired...クタクタ。。。

Travels to Kamloops, Vernon, and Salmon Arm

I travelled for work on Thursday and Friday. This is the Kia I rented in Kamloops. 木曜日と金曜日は出張だった。カムループス市でレンタルした車は始めてのKiaです！燃費はすごかった！

I spent one night in Vervon. The hotel was nothing special--the garden was nice, though. バーノン市で一泊した。ホテルはまあまあだったけど庭の景色はとても良かった。

The presentations and meetings in Salmon Arm were about Better at Home. サーモン・アーム市でやった発表はこれについて。お年寄りを応援するためのプロジェクトです。

This is the organization that is running Better at Home in Kamloops. I stopped in on the way home. カムループス市でプロジェクトもある。これは「Better at Home」をやっている団体です。帰りにちょっと寄りました。

サーモン・アーム市！Salmon Arm!

今週も出張です！先週と同じようにバンクーバー空港を出てカムループス市に到着。それで車をレンタルして、バーノン市というところまで行って泊まった。金曜日はサーモン・アーム市で会議がいっぱいあって終わったらカムループス市に戻って帰りました。

This week I was traveling again. I flew back into Kamloops and drove to Vernon to spend last night there. On Friday, I had meetings in Salmon Arm and the drove back to Kamloops to fly back to Vancouver. The trips are a great way to see the provinces, but I would like a bit of time at home now....

Walking in the neighbourhood 近所でお散歩

Today I walked a lot. I took a lovely walk before my morning shower...simply lovely...今日たくさん歩いた！朝日、シャワー浴びる前に歩きました！

There is a park nearby, but I am not sure I should be using it yet....:-)

There is even salmon in the stream nearby...近くの小川ではサーモンがいるそう。

Such a great walk! Now I am ready for my day! いいお散歩できて、仕事頑張れる！よっし！
