Walking on Valentine's Day・バレンタインの日のお散歩

OK, so this is a bit overdue but this Valentine's day was fun. We got up early and went for a walk on the beach. ちょっと前の話けど今年のバレンタインデーは楽しかった。朝早くおきて、ビーチでお散歩。

These birds also got up early...この鳥も早起きだった。

Who could it be? 誰だろう？

I walked over 20 steps on Valentine's Day...what a great feeling...バレンタインの日に２万歩も歩いていて最高な気持ちだった！

シーフード・ランチ・Seafood lunch

Forgive me, but I have a few more snaps from Miami. This is Garcia's--a great place for seafood, right on the Miami river. マイアミの写真、もうちょっと許して！シーフードランチを食べたところです。

We had stone crab.  カニ！

Then we had...what was this called...? Ah yes...conch fritters. They were...so-so...

これはなんというものだったっけ。ホラ貝のフリッターです。まあまあ美味しかった。

The oysters were very good!

かきは結構美味しかった。

The place was lovely to eat at....きれいなところじゃない？

And for dessert...key lime pie...the best! デザートはキー・ライム・パイで最高！

Duck Tour! アヒル・ツーア？

もしかして一番楽しかったマイアミ経験はこれです。「ダック・ツーア」といっても９０分間の笑いツーアの説明が適当。チケットを買ってからこの変なバスに乗る。 This was probably the most fun we had in Miami--absolutely magnificent. It's called a Duck Tour and we laughed for 90 minutes. After buying tickets we got on board THIS thing!

変でしょう？バスか？船か？両方？How weird is this? Is it a bus? Is it a boat?

乗ると高いところからマイアミツーアが始まる。これ絵がアート・デコ・スタイルのダイナーだそうです。You get a great view from up on the vehicle. This is an art deco diner we passed.

それで、一番面白いのはこのバスが海に入れる！バスが船ね乗る！超面白い！Best part about the tour? We go from land right into the bay!!! Then you get a tour of the houses and Miami from the water! Absolutely fabulous!

マイアミのオシャレなお家などのツーアです！すごーく楽しかった。All the best houses are on the water--it is a great tour.

Some sneaky buggers even have jet skis out front...!

マイアミ湾のツーア部分が終わったらまた陸に上がった。At the end of the Bay tour, the vehicle just drives back out onto the land. Brilliant!

超楽しかった！チャンスがあったらお勧めです！(ロンドンのもこのツーアがあるそうです）It was really fun...I highly recommend this to everyone! (They have them in London...they need them in Tokyo, too!)

今日の笑顔・Today's smile

月曜日だから忙しくて時間のあまりにない一日だった。これを見ると笑顔が出る。火曜日がんばろう！　It's Monday so I had a really busy day and very little time. But this made me smile! Bring on Tuesday!

Fancy Cuban Dinner・オシャレなキューバ料理

In Miami, we went out for fancy Cuban food to celebrate my mom's birthday. I had the sangria on the right and she had the pink elephant on the left (hic). マイアミにいていた間、ママの誕生日ディナーをキューバ料理にした。超オシャレなレストランで美味しかった。私がサングリア(右）、ママが「ピンク像」という飲み物(左）。

There was also a rather fun beer on the menu...面白いビールもあった。

I had the black bean soup...very yummy...私はスープを頼んだ。黒豆のスープでとても美味しかった。

And someone had the steak...弟はこれを注文した。ステーキかな。。。

And this pork thing...後はこれ。。。ポーク何とか。。。

Oh...and mac-and-cheese and salad...interesting, no?　Lはマカロニとサラダ。。。

Finally, mom had the lobster...excellent choice! ママはロブスターを注文した！美味しかった！

And a deconstructed key lime pie. Bad picture but great taste! デザートはこれです。写真がよくないけど味は最高だった！ママ：お誕生日、おめでとう！

Little Havana・リトル・ハバナ

While we were in Miami, we went to Little Havana. It is the Cuban district of Miami, as many people moved there after the Castro government took over in Cuba--the US government offered sanctuary to Cubans until the 1970s. マイアミにいていたあいだ、リトル・ハバナに行った。マイアミのキューバ人街で、とても面白いところです。「カストロ政権の誕生によって多くのキューバ人がマイアミにやって来たところ」だって。面白いブルがあって。。。

There were some amazing fruits and vegetables. 面白い野菜や果物。。。

On the left are huge avocados, and on the right are mamey. They are really interesting--kind of like papaya/paupau and coconut mixed, kind of. たとえば、左側は大きいアボカド。右側は英語にない果物。マメーというものでパパヤとココナツの間の果物っぽい。

This is the flesh of the mamey fruit. マメーの中はのこうです。

 

And multi-coloured corn...lovely... コーンも面白い。

I loved this ice-cream shop...  アイスのお店の看板、大好き。

And this mural...美術も面白い。。。この壁画｛へきが｝が大好き。

Found Pitbull on a wall... 歌手のピットブルも見つけた。

 

And the Beatles...ビートルズも。

And here are the tamales I had for lunch...absolutely magnificent... 食べ物も投稿しなきゃ。これはタマーレです。トウモロコシの粉で作った生地です。普通はお肉は入っているけどこれは野菜包みだけ。

金曜日のディナー・Friday's dinner

Friday night was date night so L made a delightful feast. Even the wine was delightful. 金曜日がデート・ナイトでLはすばらしい夕食を作ってくれた。白ワインも可愛かった。。。

Bread, sauce, and wine...パンとソースとワインです。

Beets and goat's cheese salad. サラダが山羊のチーズとビーツでとても美味しかった。

Lobster and mushroom pasta, cheese, zucchini, and mushrooms...with fried, buttered sage...divine! メインがパスタ、マッシュルーム、チーズ、ズッキーニ。全部食べてしまった。

And lemon sorbet for dessert...one of the best meals ever! デザートが私の大好きなレモン・ソルベで、最高！

木曜日の会議・Thursday's meeting

On Thursday we had a work meeting at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. This was the view from the meeting room. 木曜日は仕事でまたバンクーバー・ヨット・クラブで会議があった。会議室からの景色です。

It was extremely difficult to pay attention to the contents of the meeting! 会議の内容にはあまり集中できなかった。

借りたお家・Miami beach house

This is the place we rented in Miami. For the week it was just over $1000 for a huge 3-bedroom place with a yard and lots of space. マイアミにいたとき、このお家を借りた。Lがオンラインで見つけたところ、一週間で１０万円ぐらいしかかからなかった。寝室も密あって、リビングが大きくて。。。

Living room--huge! スペースがかなりあった。

And the TV was also pretty big. テレビも大きかった。

The kitchen--big enough. 台所

That's the front door and a whole lot of space... 玄関もあって、ダイニングも広い。

Some of the stuff we ate...ahem...drank...いろいろ飲みました。

Ice cream and booze in the freezer.  冷凍室に必要なもの。

Yummy blended margeritas! マルゲリータ！

Birthday cake and champagne. 誕生日ケーキ！

Happy birthday, mom! Let's do it again! お母さん、お誕生日おめでとう！またやろう！
