Kamloops(2）　カムループス市（２）

カムループス市は面白いところでこのきれいな入り口は博物館のです。Kamloops is a really interesting town--this is the pretty entrance to the museum.

これはカムループス市の「United Way」です。私が働いている非政府組織の支店です。 This is the local branch office of the United Way--the non-profit organization I work for.

傾斜路もあって、いいです。 They even have a great ramp!

新聞社もあって、すごいなー！And a big local newspaper...

And last night I had a fabulous dinner in Kamloops--this was the best veggie burger I have ever eaten! I am going to have to come back! それで、昨日の夕飯はおいしかった！今まで、一番おいしいベジタリアンのバーガーを食べた！また来なきゃ！

Kamloops!　カムループス市

Today was the first of a two-day trip to Kamloops for work. I left Vancouver airport at 6:30 and got into Kamloops at about 7:15.　今日から2日間出張。バンクーバー航空を6：30に出て、カムループス市へ7：15ぐらいに到着。

I had a delightful breafast at the hotel. ホテルに行っておいしい朝食を楽しめた。

The hotel was builtin 1928 and the rooms are great. ホテルは1928年に建設、ルームもかわいいです。

Even the faucets have that great 'old' feel.　蛇口〔じゃぐち）も古っぽくてかわいい！

We went to this fabulous Korean restaurant for dinner the other night. It is pretty close to the new apartment and other than us, there were only Koreans in the restaurant. 最近、豪華な韓国料理をいただきました！新しいアパートの近くのレストランで、客さんが(私たち以外）韓国人ばっかりだった！

The kimchi was fabulous! キムチはやっぱり美味しい！

And yes, maybe we ordered too much, but it was delicious...注文しすぎかな？美味しかったけど。。。

Back to the aquarium・また水族館

This past weekend, we went back to the Vancouver Aquarium. Saturday was members' only day so we went in before all the crowds. It was great to wander around slowly and take our time. What a great experience. 先週末またバンクーバー水族館に行きました。土曜日の朝がメンバーだけが入れて、ぜんぜん混んでいなかった。ゆっくり見れたし、とてもいい経験だった。

Ikea! イケア！

I finally made it to Ikea. I never went to the one in Funabashi, so this was a first for me. やっとイケアに行きました！船橋のイケアに行かなかったのでバンクーバーのは初めてのイケア経験。

We did do some shopping but this was the interesting bit--L had Swedish meatballs. Not my fave...買い物をちょっとしたけどLが食べたのはスウェーデン風ミートボール。面白いけど果たしは結構です！

Ikea is famous for small, functional furniture, but the elevators are HUGE! イケアの家具はほとんど小さいけどエレベーターは信じられないほど大きいです！

フィッシュ・アンド・チップス Fish and Chips!

Recently, I went to this fish and chips place with two work colleagues. One was born in India but has lived in New Zealand and the UK. The other was born in America and has lived in Canada for 40 years but only recently got her Canadian citizenship and passport. We had a lot of fun conversations.
この間、仕事場の友達とフィッシュ・アンド・チップス店に行きました！一人はインド生まれで、ニュー・ジーランドやイギリスにも住んでいたことある。もう一人はアメリカ生まれでカナダに４０年ぐらい住んでいる。最近カナダ人になって、パスポートもやっともらえた！いい話がいっぱいできた。

合計４５０日間カナダにいます。やっぱり好きになっています！I have been in Canada for a total of 450 days (326days in 2012 and 124 days so far in 2013). This is a pretty fun place to be!

Driving・運転

この間、自動車の走行距離計が面白い距離になった。The car's odometer reached some fun milestones the other day. The car has gone 44,477kms and that tank was up to 300kms. Pretty fun (for me anyway--I like when numbers are fun!)

それとも、いいところまで運転してきた！とてもいいところに違えない！ Oh, and I drove to a pretty fun place the other day...

Moving day (2)・引越しの日（２）

Yesterday afternoon, we moved into the Burnaby apartment. There are still lots of boxes everywhere in the 2nd floor apartment. 昨日の午後はバーナービ市のアパートで過ごしました。箱がいっぱい２階のアパートにおいてあった。

This is a fun shot of the bathroom without a shower curtain...浴室もシャワー・カーテンのない状態と。。。

...and with one. Rather liked the bamboo pattern...シャワー・カーテンのある状態。。。竹のイメージでちょっといいかな。。。

The car and bike are both parked downstairs, which is convenient for coming and going. 自転車や車は下に駐車して、便利です。

This is the state of the place now. We have not finished unpacking but we have Internet, phone, and TV, so we are on our way. アパートの今日の状態です。荷解きはまだまだ終わっていないけどテレビ、電話やインターネットはOKなので少しずつがんばります。

Moving day (1)・引越しの日（１）

Recently, this is pretty much all we have been doing--packing boxes. 最近、毎日は荷作りばっかりやっていた。

Yesterday was finally moving day. We moved from Surrey to Burnaby. Below is a photo of how the Surrey place looked yesterday morning. 昨日はやっと引越しの日だった。サリー市からバーナービ市へ引越しした。これは昨日の朝のサリーアパートの景色だった

幸運に引越し会社の二人に手伝ってもらった。 We had help from professional movers...thankfully

An hour later, this is what the Surrey apartment looked like...kinda sad really...一時間後の景色だった。ちょっとさびしいよね。。。

Fun at the office・オフィスで

I put up some mini koi-nobori in my office in honour of Golden Week. Everyone was really impressed with them. (They should see the big ones!) 五月五日のために小さいこいのぼりをオフィスにつけた。皆が「可愛い」って言ってくれた。

Another fun thing we did recently in the office is a lovely salmon and veggie lunch. One of the ladies is a great cook, so this is what we had！Very delicious (I brought the OJ!) オフィスでこの間シェアしたランチです。一緒に仕事している「シンディー」という人はすばらしいシェフです。サーモンや野菜などを作ってくれて、4人でシェアした。超美味しかった。(私は料理ができないのでオレンジー・ジュースしか作れなかった！）
